According to the Catholic Church, it is a sin to commit suicide no matter the reason to do so. It is perceived as an evil sin because you are taking away the life god gave you for a specific reason. In an online article it states that “Our Lord knew the joy and pain, success and failure, pleasure and suffering, happiness and sorrow that come in this life; yet, He also showed us how to live this life in the love of God and trusting in His will.” This means that according to the catholic religion, god knows there will be hardships but if we trust in him we will be able to overcome anything. That is why committing suicide is a sin; by killing yourself you are saying you don’t trust in him (god). Also, in the same article it states that “…suicide defies the love we owe God.” This shows how according to the catholic faith we owe God everything, and by killing ourselves we are not showing him our true feelings for him. In other words, God died for us so we should be grateful and respect ourselves for that reason.
Similar to the Catholic Church, Islam religion views suicide as a sin too. According to the Islam faith “God is the author of life and it is only He who could take life or tell human beings under what conditions a life should be taken such as in punishment for murder and spreading destruction and havoc in the land.” This doesn’t quite go with the catholic religion because in the catholic faith they don’t believe god can take your life for a murder or causing destruction. In the contrast, the Islam faith believes god can only take your life away for the harm that you have done. They don’t believe in suicide because it’s a sin, unless it's god the one who takes it away from you.
