Martha's Philosophy
Social Justice means to me that everyone is actually treated the same. No one is better than anyone else, and we are all looked at the same way. No preferences are in social justice whatsoever. For example, a colored person would be treated the exact same way a white person would be by an officer. Everyone would get the same rules ,even if you have more money than the other person. No corruption would be taking place. Wealth wouldn't put you at a higher place than someone who rarely has anything to eat. Our homeless would have benefits that would allow them to come back into their feet instead of just giving them nothing and keeping them in the street. Everyone is human so that means we should have the same treatment. Homeless people deserve to have a roof over their head and at least 3 meals a day, they get treated worse than animals and that's just so inhumane. We are all brothers and sisters that should work together for the better not go against each other.
Also, that means “illegal aliens” wouldn't be deported and they'd be able to live the normal life every american does. I put quotations around illegal aliens because technically we are all illegal aliens. Native Americans were the ones here before columbus arrived and took over. So every white person who thinks they have privileges because they're “caucasian” shouldn't feel that way because they actually don't. Especially Donald Trump, he's a disgrace to humanity. He's disempowering people with his dumb actions that have no meaning. A mexican should have the same rights as a Black person, just like the Black person should have the same rights as the White. We are all human, so we all deserve the same rights. Those “illegal aliens” allow for the economy to stay good and do the hard jobs the citizens of America won't do. Everyone goes somewhere for opportunities so those people come to “The Land of the Free” to get a better life for themselves and their family. This was the case of my parents. My parents came into the united states 25 years ago to give my siblings and I the life we deserve. Till this day I have no way of thanking them, I am able to be the intellectual I am thanks to them coming here for those opportunities that couldn't be given to them in our home place. My father had to run across the desert in extreme weather just for my family to have a better life. He says he will never forget almost passing out because he was weak due to the hot weather and not being hydrated. he said his legs were weak and he was just too thirsty, he ran for more than two hours in 100 F+ weather without stopping because if he stopped he would be caught by “La Migra.” And all his struggles for him coming here were worth it for us because we have a much better life but yet he still can't go back to his homeland like my siblings and mother can.
Social Justice will never happen if we do not all work together; in order for everyone to be treated the same we need to get all of those who think they are better than anyone else out. Social Justice is equality to all human race and anything that is alive. We treat each other with respect no matter or wealth and the color of our skins. No one is more superior than others. We have to begin getting social justice by letting everyone know that we are all the same. Your skin color does not imply that you will go to heaven or hell. No matter how wealthy you were, what the color of your skin was, who you were, we all end up 6 feet under in a casket. So might as well make the best of life by all of us working together as a whole and ending all those negative things that separate the human race.
Social Justice demonstrates that with unity anything can be accomplished. My school was built thanks to the struggle of nineteen hunger strikers that fought together to get a new school built; that is how Little Village High School Campus came about. They fought for nineteen long days in order to get another school built in the campus. Before this campus was built everyone was packed into only one High School named Farragut Career Academy and it located at 2345 S Christiana Ave, Chicago, IL 60623. There was many problems associated with having only one high school in the community, one of those problems was gang related ones. People from opposite gangs had to attend the same schools, so that meant a lot of violence going on in the school and no one was able to be safe. Also, the school was overly packed that classes had to be taken in the hallway. How can anyone learn in a hallway when there's a lot of motion going on around them? Thankfully to great community leaders and activist we were able to get the beautiful campus we have now.
